I
infrared radiation
Optical radiation for which the wavelengths are longer than those for visible radiation. Note1: For infrared radiation, the range between 780nm and 1mm ist commonly subdivided into: IR-A: 780nm to 1400nm, IR-B: 1,4µm to 3µm, IR-C: 3µm to 1mm. Note2: The infrared spectrum at sea level extends to about 2000nm. Note 3: The range of infrared emitted by the source and reaching the lens should be considered in the design of an infrared absorbing material.
