as-worn power
Dioptric power of a spectacle lens in the wearing position and relative to a specific object distance and position. Dioptric power in the design reference point of a lens, i.e. during wear of the spectacles, in a defined situation of use. Spectacle lenses are designed to ensure that the power the wearer experiences in front of his or her eyes corresponds to that determined during refraction. This is different from the measured power. The as-worn power is taken into account in all multifocal lenses from Carl Zeiss, hence ensuring maximum wearer tolerance. The detailed specification of each wearer's parameters for the individualized lenses allows the using situation to be exactly defined, resulting in immediate adaptation of the wearer to the lens.
